This document defines vocabularies for use with the various properties in the eSciDoc Application Profiles.

Academic Degree Encoding Scheme[edit]

This vocabulary applies to the element "academicdegree" in the ESciDoc_Application_Profiles describing a publication.

http://purl.org/escidoc/metadata/ves/academic-degrees/bachelor Bachelor The item is a document that presents the author's research and findings and is submitted in support of candidature for a bachelor degree.
http://purl.org/escidoc/metadata/ves/academic-degrees/master Master The item is a document that presents the author's research and findings and is submitted in support of candidature for a master degree.
http://purl.org/escidoc/metadata/ves/academic-degrees/diploma Diploma The item is a document that presents the author's research and findings and is submitted in support of candidature for a diploma.
http://purl.org/escidoc/metadata/ves/academic-degrees/magister Magister The item is a document that presents the author's research and findings and is submitted in support of candidature for a magister degree.

Content Category Encoding Scheme[edit]

This vocabulary applies to the element "contentcategory" in the ESciDoc_Application_Profile_File.


Value String Label Definition
http://purl.org/escidoc/metadata/ves/content-categories/fulltext Full text The item is a document of one of the following types:
  • Any full text: Text of a publication which won't be submitted for peer-reviewed publications
  • Pre-print: Pre-peer-review version of an article that is to be submitted for peer-reviewed publication
  • Post-print: The post-print is the creator's peer-reviewed final draft, accepted for publication
  • Publisher version: The published version of the article. Regarding the content, the publisher version is identical to the post-print.

  • Abstract: Provides only the summary of the article
  • Table of contents: The overview of the article content

Access Rights Encoding Scheme[edit]

This vocabulary applies to the element "accessRights" in the ESciDoc_Application_Profile_File.


Value String Label Definition
http://purl.org/escidoc/metadata/ves/access-rights/public Public Access to this item is free to everybody.
http://purl.org/escidoc/metadata/ves/access-rights/private Private Access is restricted to selected users, i.e. the owner of the publication item and service administrator; in the future, more levels will be implemented, e.g. "selected users", or "selected groups", so that "private" will become obsolete.
