When editing an item in PuRe, serious complications may occur, if you keep several browser tabs/windows (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer etc) opened simultaneously that relate to different PuRe items in the Summary, Details or Edit page.

It may happen that while intending to edit the item in the original tab/window, you unnoticedly overwrite the item in the second tab/window with the metadata of the first one. It is as well possible, that the metadata of the second item will unintentionally replace the data of the item in the first tab/window.

Therefore, we urgently advise you against having various browser tabs or windows containing PuRe items opened concurrently, if you intend to create a new item or edit an existing one!

If you would like to view more than one item (e.g. for copy&paste operations), we recommend using different browser windows: e.g. Open one item in Firefox for the edit mode and another item as template in a Chrome window.

In order to mitigate this issue, the system will give you a message, as soon as the title of an existing item has been altered.
If this relates to a conscious modification, you can ignore the message.

However, if you did not intend to make any changes at this point, you should check if the item with the ID mentioned in the system message might have had a completely different set of metadata in a previous version. If this is the case, you can restore the content of the previous version using the Rollback functionality in the item Log.

You can view older versions of an item by lowering the version number behind the item ID in the URL at the top of the browser:
