==Summary==
Digital longterm preservation is a process, which can not be solved by an institute alone, because the development and implementation of strategies is very complex and costly. Therefore, a cooperation between the different organizations is highly desirable.

Discussion[edit]

First draft of the LTA migration manual: Wege ins Archiv: Ein Leitfaden für die Informationsübernahme in das digitale Langzeitarchiv, version 1 (Entwurf zur öffentlichen Kommentierung), herausgegeben von der nestor-Arbeitsgruppe "Standards für Metadaten, Transfer von Objekten in digitale Langzeitarchive und Objektzugriff" can be found here.

The following structure of the manual has been presented:

  • Objects: Tobias Steinke, Deutsche Nationalbibliothek
  • Processes: Dr. Christian Keitel, Landesarchiv Baden-Würtemberg
  • Management: Tobias Beinert, BSB; Jens Ludwig, SUB Göttingen

The main idea of the manual is drifting from the formal and technical (like OAIS) to the human intuitive understandable definitions (emphasizing the institutional aspects).
