APE Conferences encourage the debate about the future of scientific publications, information dissemination and access to scientific results. They offer an independent forum for 'open minds' with a free exchange of opinions and experiences between all stakeholders.
APE conferences provide an independent and international platform where academic, educational and professional publishers, university presses, librarians, scientists, authors, editors, teachers, learned and professional societies and associations, funding agencies, politicians and policy makers, subscription agencies and booksellers, recruiting agencies as well as technology providers present visions and views, exchange experiences and discuss opportunities and challenges.

The 8th European Conference on Digital Archiving will be held in Geneva from 28-30 April 2010. It will follow in the footsteps of the European Conferences on Archives of recent decades. By emphasizing digital elements and archiving as a function instead of the archive as an institution, however, it aims to take a new approach. The future will be digital, but we want to preserve the analogue tradition: the archive of the future must be a safe place for the analogue and digital traces of the past - this is our responsibility.

2010-06-16/18: 14th International Conference on Electronic Publishing (ELPUB 2010) in Helsinki, Finland[edit]

Publishing is transformed by new channels for electronic communication. Publishing is increasingly taking place in the social spaces using the Internet and mobile technologies, which is largely due to the convergence of communication, audio, video and mobile technologies. New publishing models enable individuals, scholars, communities and networks to establish contacts, exchange data, produce information, and share knowledge in various formats regardless of temporal and spatial restrictions and the types of devices used.
New opportunities and new needs in research challenge us to create an infrastructure also for research data in electronic format. The ELPUB 2010 conference will focus on key issues in electronic publishing such as the methods by which research documents and user-generated content can be published through formal channels as well as through social networks. It will discuss the requirements for a sound infrastructure that can handle the electronic publishing of various forms (e.g., audio, video, or real-time) that increasingly takes place in the social sphere along with the business models to be employed.
