Providing Lists of Authors

The following page is a interface draft for entering lists of authors more comfortable. Please mind that this is a abstract GUI draft. It is not done to define a detailed level but serves as a discussion base for further work.

Current approach

The current GUI part for 'Edit Item' is not suitable for large lists of authors. For each author the user has to perform multiple, sequential actions to define creator type, role and organization:

New Approach: Rough Flow

The new approach replaces the forms by a simple list of creators. All meta data remains. The user can first add, edit or remove one creator after the other. He can deside optionally to go to an extended list to modify the creator list more detailed. The user can decide to take over a list of authors. After he has done that he defines one or more affiliations for one or more authors by matching creators and organizations.

After creators were matched the user returns to the more detailed list.

Basic List

Initially one simple list is displayed. You can:

• Add creator
• Remove Creator

• Edit Creator (Inplace)

Authors can be easily linked to affiliations by using an autosuggest pattern with a controlled list of organizations.

Edit List

The edit list provides extended functionality:

• Change of creator position
• Add creator list
• Move Creator (Up/Down)
• Edit Creator (Inplace)
• Delete Creator
• Change position of creator
• Insert single creator new

On top one can choose to add a list of creators via button 'Add Creator List':

List varieties

Match Affiliations

Creators are usually linked with one or more affiliations. As a consequence all new entries are matched with organizations (individual organization names are not treated yet). After getting the list, there are one or more creators with no affilliated organization. One ore more creators must be matched to one or more organizations in a generic manner.
