General Description[edit]
Current journals are published by Verlag der Zeitschrift fuer Naturforschung as three corpora:
- Zeitschrift für Naturforschung A – Physical Sciences,
- Zeitschrift für Naturforschung B – Chemical Sciences,
- Zeitschrift für Naturforschung C – Biosciences
The backfiles 1946-2001 will be published as Open-Access publications in PubMan.
Requirements to the MPDL[edit]
Make digitized back files available on the web as a browsing structure. It would be best if we could follow the browsing approach of the publisher, e.g. http://www.znaturforsch.com/aa/v57a/c57a.htm
The browsing structure is as follows:
Corpus (Journal) > Volume (Year) > Issue > Article

Implementation approach[edit]

Phase 1[edit]
Aim:
- Digitization of backfiles by external provider as PDF/A-1a
- Store digitized material on eSciDoc.
- Update: Entry point for searching/browsing in backfiles is PubMan, the publisher will link to the PubMan collection
Requirements eSciDoc:
- Container Corpus (Journal)
- Articles in Journal
- Download PDF from eSciDoc
- Actions:
- Sent (commented) XML schema and spec to digitization provider (End of January 2008)
- We will get METS data; (Andreas sent a request for example datasets to digitization agency (April and May 2008).
- Clarify CC-BY issue and the granting of rights for use of online-publication
Phase 2[edit]
Enable browsing in back files (Journal(Corpus)-Volume-Issue-Article) on eSciDoc.

Extend prototype for presentation environment for the digital collection of Reinhold von Sengbusch
