In order to improve the support for [www.edoc.mpg.de eDoc], the institutional repository of the MPS, I made some investigations and tests on screencast software. I tested mainly freeware. Please see my del.icio.us bookmarks in order to get an overview on possible solutions, which can be used within a windows environment.
Problems I detected[edit]
- The tools I tested (CamStudio and BB Flashback Express) created quite big files. So either you select a software, which compresses your video or you have to additionally use a video compressor.
- I uploaded one of my videos, that I made with CamStudio to youtube, so that I would be able to easily integrate it into a blog etc. The quality of the uploaded video is quite bad. The writings on the screen can not be red really.
Questions[edit]
- Is there a good screencast software for Windows, that can be recommended?
