Introduction[edit]

This application profile describes the metadata to be used with items of the LeBlanc Collection. In short, this collection will contain about 24.000 images of "Druckgrafiken" listed in the LeBlanc-Catalog.

Aim and Scope[edit]

The target audience of this collection are art historians. This community uses a specific terminology to refer to and describe the contents of the photographs. Therefore, this terminology has to be reflected -- at least partly -- in this application profile. As the Hertziana will put the digitized items also into the HIDA-MIDAS database of Foto Marburg (that they share with the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte and the KHI in Florence), this application profile will have to present an adequate subset of the elaborate MIDAS scheme.

The aim is to enable quick search & comfortable discovery for art historians accessing this collection of roughly 24.000 items.
