| What is MPG.PuRe? |
| "PuRe" stands for "Publication Repository". MPG.PuRe is the institutional publication repository of the Max Planck Society (MPG). The Max Planck Institutes (MPI) make the bibliographic data (title, author, publisher, etc.) of their scientific publications available to the public here. In addition, PuRe supports the green road to Open Access and offers the possibility to upload full texts or supplementary material (e.g. PDF, Excel).
The visibility of the stored data is increased by search engine indexation (e.g. Google, Google Scholar, BASE, OpenAIRE, etc.). Interfaces allow a wide range of reuse options, for example for different websites, reports, blogs or the MPG yearbook. MPG.PuRe is a central service of the MPDL. It is based on the Open Source Software PubMan which is continuously developed and improved by the MPDL. |

| Which publications are included? |
| MPG.PuRe mainly contains references to scientific publications from the Max Planck Society.
The data is entered and maintained exclusively by the respective Max Planck Institutes (MPIs).
In some cases, full texts or supplementary materials are available. |
| Can I get an account? |
| An MPG.PuRe account is required for entering and maintaining data.
In most Max Planck Institutes, at least one person responsible for PuRe. The MPG.PuRe-Support will register additional persons on request. However, this is only done in consultation with the responsible persons at the institute concerned. As a rule, no accounts are assigned to persons who are not (no longer) employees of the MPG. |
| Who can enter publications in MPG.PuRe? |
| The institutes themselves decide on the appropriate workflow for entering data in PuRe. The input is often done by the local library, but can also be done by people from public relations, group leaders, assistants or secretaries. In some cases, the MPI scientists themselves are also involved in the process. |
| I have found an interesting publication. Why can't I download the full text? |
| Whether a full text is uploaded and which group it is available to is decided by the respective Max Planck Institutes.
If you are not offered a full text for download, you can contact the institute that created the data set in question directly (e.g. the library). If the respective contact person is not clearly visible, you are welcome to contact the MPG.PuRe-Support. |
| Who can access uploaded full texts? |
| Öffentlich geteilte Volltexte sind für jeden Internetnutzer frei zugänglich.
Manche Dateien sind ausschließlich im IP-Bereich einzelner Institute oder der gesamten MPG zugänglich (Sichtbarkeit: "eingeschränkt"). "Private" Dateien können nur mit Moderatoren-Accounts des betreffenden Instituts geöffnet werden. |

| Für einfache Suchen über alle Felder gibt es den Suchschlitz in der Kopfzeile. Komplexe Suchanfragen können mit der Detailsuche zusammengestellt werden.

| Are research data also made available via MPG.PuRe? |
| Vereinzelt befinden sich auch Forschungsdaten in MPG.PuRe, das sind jedoch eher Ausnahmen. MPG.PuRe ist für Publikationsdaten konzipiert und optimiert. Sollten Sie Forschungsdaten suchen oder veröffentlichen wollen, dann sind ausgewiesene Forschungsdaten-Repositorien eine bessere Wahl. Diese sind oft disziplinspezifisch.
Es gibt aber auch ein Forschungsdaten Repositorium der Max Planck Gesellschaft das Open Access Data Repository Edmond. |
