I would like to suggest that it is important to make distinction between status line messages and messages that are reported due to an action such as item has been successfully sent.

Status line message is fine to show for search results and workspace list results. But when an action is performed such as save, delete etc. probably status line message makes not too much sense, as it is important that the user gets this message in a box (even when it is single message). This was also feedback from NIMS.

  • Proposal: The GUI Team defines 4 different messages and their appearance, the DEV team decides during implementation which message form fits
  1. Info
  2. Success
  3. Warning (messages where the user can react on, like validation errors)
  4. Error
  • Messages will not contain stack traces

Rupert: I'll extend the table. --Rupert 16:25, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
