Trip Report: 9th IGeLU Conference. Oxford 15th-17th September 2014
The 9th annual meeting of the "International Group of Ex Libris users" (IGeLU) took place in Oxford, GB from 15th to 17th September 2014. The meeting has been attended by Inga, Mary-Ann and Irina.
Summary: This year's conference schedule was already dominated by presentations around Alma - held by Ex Libris and many early adopters. One of the highlights was the straightforward presentation of the 1st early adopter in German speaking countries: the "Bibliothek am Guisanplatz" in Switzerland. Contributions concerning Aleph, MetaLib and SFX were noticeably reduced.
Another notable trend is the ongoing shift of resources and investment towards SAAS support and cloud infrastructure. While Ex Libris still declares to continue support for local installations, they encourage institutions to move to cloud services and communicate that new services will become available to SAAS customers only, e.g. clustering results in Primo next generation interface.
