Use Case for PMC mapping[edit]

What is the use case for loading content from PMC? Please note that only a subset of the PMC content is really "open access", see http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/about/openftlist.html --Inga 18:37, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Identifiers[edit]

DOIs are rarely used for identifying journals and ISSNs are never used for identifying articles. Do you have an example which deploys these elements? --Inga 18:37, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

In addition, I would not suggest to map all additional identifier-types to "other" - because these non-specific values are not helpful. You might consider to add "pmid" and "pmc" as additional identifier types to the eSciDoc AP --Inga 19:13, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

I would suggest to add only PMCID to eSciDoc identifier type and to map PMC to Subject (as it is not really an identifier, but an abbreviation for the journal name) --Kleinfercher 09:32, 24 November 2008 (UTC) Ok... now i understood that pmc and pmcid when talking about an article identifier are the same. --Kleinfercher 09:30, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Subtitles for journals[edit]

We should check some examples of the "journal-subtitle" and the "trans-subtitle" elements. If the subtitle is not an alternative, but rather an extension to the journal title, we should consider merging it into "Publication.Source.Title" resp. "Publication.Source.AlternativeTitle" --Inga 18:37, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Discussed with nicole. Decided to map these titles to alternative title which is right according to esSciDoc Metadata Set --Kleinfercher 13:21, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Publisher[edit]

To check with Nicole, but I believe this should be mapped to "Publication.Source.PublishingInfo" as articles are not published independently --Inga 18:39, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Done--Kleinfercher 08:01, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Conferences[edit]

I would suggest to map "conf-acronym" to "Publication.Event.AlternativeTitle" - and maybe merge "conf-num" to "Publication.Event.Title" --Inga 19:10, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Done--Kleinfercher 08:19, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Series-title[edit]

Again, we might look out for some examples ;). I have no idea what the "Title of the journal series" might be. --Inga 19:24, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

example with series-title tag
and another series-title tag example
I would vote for not mapping it. Rike and I have checked the examples and we couldn't find the series title in the ZDB ;-). So maybe then we also don't need them :p. --Nicole 12:37, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

elocation-id[edit]

According to the description this element could be semantic identical to PubMan's "Publication.Source.Sequence Number" --Inga 19:28, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Done --Kleinfercher 13:22, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

ext-link[edit]

In documentation it says this ext-link can be used anywhere, i think it is not really pointing always to the file--Natasa 09:33, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Has anybody a idea how to map this?--Kleinfercher 12:09, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
