This collection contains material created by the MPDL Team about its services, projects and areas of activities as a scientific service unit of the Max Planck Society.
==General Instructions==
MPDL staff is strongly encouraged to deposit all material meant for public distribution on [http://pubman.mpdl.mpg.de/ MPG.PuRe], the institutional repository of the Max Planck Society.

This is the default text. Every department is welcomed to extend it to their needs.
Please be aware that all documents deposited in PuRe are published to a wide audience and that at least the corresponding metadata records will be shared without any limits. You therefore should be sure that the deposited publications are relevant for global distribution - especially those documents with direct affiliation to the MPDL.

== Basic principles ==
In case you're uncertain about a publication's relevance, please discuss this issue with your colleagues before depositing in PuRe.
=== Material to be deposited ===

* All material that is communicated outside the MPDL (at least one participant of the audience is a non MPDL member)
* internal material of general interest is deposited on the MPDL share drive
* All sensitive data has to be removed (staffing, business internals etc.)

=== Access Levels ===
== Workflow ==
*Authors of the MPDL can send their publications to Katrin or the PuRe Support Team for submission.
*Alternatively, the publications can be deposited by the authors themselves using their own account.
*Please avoid duplicates by checking the existing data before submission.
*There will be no QA check by moderators before the release of an item. Please notice that released items are visible to the public and will be indexed by Google etc.
*Authors should communicate their submissions (depositing activity) within their team/department.

Under discussion if there should be keywords/classification for the MPDL or not.
* PDF versions should be preferred to .doc, .ppt, .xls etc.
The information provision department is working on a keyword list for their department.

Basic principles[edit]

General Instructions[edit]

MPDL staff is strongly encouraged to deposit all material meant for public distribution on MPG.PuRe, the institutional repository of the Max Planck Society.

Please be aware that all documents deposited in PuRe are published to a wide audience and that at least the corresponding metadata records will be shared without any limits. You therefore should be sure that the deposited publications are relevant for global distribution - especially those documents with direct affiliation to the MPDL.

In case you're uncertain about a publication's relevance, please discuss this issue with your colleagues before depositing in PuRe.

Workflow[edit]

  • Authors of the MPDL can send their publications to Katrin or the PuRe Support Team for submission.
  • Alternatively, the publications can be deposited by the authors themselves using their own account.
  • Please avoid duplicates by checking the existing data before submission.
  • There will be no QA check by moderators before the release of an item. Please notice that released items are visible to the public and will be indexed by Google etc.
  • Authors should communicate their submissions (depositing activity) within their team/department.

  • Optional: External publications by MPDL staff - Context: "External Publications..."
  • Optional: External publications by non-MPDL authors in case of general interest for the MPDL (e.g. Berlin Conference papers) - Conext: "External Publications..."
