Use of Digilib in eSciDoc applications[edit]

This page describes the requirements to digilib resulting from the functional specifications of the Scholarly Workbench (SWB) applications.

Faces[edit]

In this application, a predefined set of human faces is stored and displayed to the users. The following conditions are given:

  • Every image (some thousands) now exists in two formats (normal and large).
  • A third size (thumbnail) is also needed, but can be created initially by some batch process. Digilib is not needed for this, because there will not be any new datasets after initialization.
  • The images are in a digilib compatible format, therefore no conversion is needed.

The following requirements have to be fulfilled (this list will be accomplished, when the specification is completed):

  • The images will not be publicly available, including thumbnails.
  • There has to be an opportunity to hide certain datasets even for authorized user (maybe deletion would be the best way).
  • The digilib toolbar will have to be customized due to graphical design and functional restrictions.
  • The zoom functionality probably should be available.
  • No modifying functionality is planned, but there will be some way to annotate the images.
