eSciDoc is a cooperation project between the Max-Planck Society (MPG) and the Fachinformationszentrums Karlsruhe (FIZ Karlsruhe).

In addition to own resources of the project partners, eSciDoc is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF: Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) from 2004-2009.

The aim of the project is the web-based support of scientific communication and publication in research organizations. This will be realized through the development of a re-usable generic infrastructure and various discipline-specific solutions on top.

Long-term and open access to research results and research materials (publications and primary data) will be provided as well as support for innovative forms and methods of scientific and interdisciplinary cooperations.

The pages on CoLab provide insight in ongoing work and first deliverables and are the main platform for exchange with interested partners, pilots and projects. For a structured overview visit the eSciDoc portal.

See the official project homepage for more information on organization, motivations and background.
