In my opinion, Faces albums shouldn't be retrievable via search engines (if that's possible) because they are only visible to logged in users. Only in the case when a user follows a link to a release album (without being logged in), the album should be visible for the user, but only the metadata, not the pictures. But if that's not possible, I like the proposal from Rike. --Kristina 08:45, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Just checked with Bastien. Current state is that all metadata of an album should be visible to all users, and only the pictures are restricted to logged in users. Therefore it is your decision, it is possible to exclude albums from being searched.--Friederike 09:40, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Would opt for making albums retrievable by search engines, even if login required. They get visible at least, and this might lead to new user account requests. In addition, in case the solution is re-used for open access holdings, we do not have to change the parameters.--Ulla 15:08, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
The generalisation of the solution is a good point. So make albums also retrievable via search engines. --Kristina 07:07, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

FACES[edit]

  • When I search for "faces" in Google, I don't find our Faces on the first several pages. Only when I enter "faces MPDL" I find it on the second position (and that's the test version, not the live on). When searching for "faces mpib" the first hit is also our test server, but the second one is the live version. Would it be possible to optimise this, so that mainly the live version of FACES will be found (and not the test instance) and that FACES is also retrievable when searching only for "faces"? --Kristina 08:41, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
This would be a different issue, at this point I would like to define what informations we put on the sidemap/ description tag to influence the appearance of our search results in search engines. To influence what will be found for what search querys is a different and far more complicated issue.--Friederike 08:43, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
  • More readable solution
FACES - A database of facial expressions
FACES is a set of images of naturalistic faces of younger, middle-aged, and older women and men
displaying each of six facial expressions. Max Planck Institute for Human Development.
  • I like this solution. My only small change would be not only to mention the institute, but to write "Developed by the Max Planck Institute for Human Development". --Kristina 08:41, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
