On this page you will find a collection of ideas/brainstorming and results from first interviews with scientists, which helped us to shape the functionality "easy submission".
Please check the final functional specification .
Collection of examples[edit]
Easy submission of the Max-Planck-Institut für Dynamik komplexer technischer Systeme[edit]
Easy submission for posters form the Max-Planck-Institut für Dynamik komplexer technischer Systeme.
- YourName: this should be populated automatically from user data
- Your email: same
Easy submission of the Max-Planck-Institut für Physik komplexer Systeme[edit]
Easy submission of the Max-Planck-Institut für Dynamik komplexer technischer Systeme.
- Some comments on easy submission (triggered after seing the link above): Does it makes sense PubMan to provide as many easy submission masks as needed for any institute/genre combination?
- Alternative1: make general easy submission mask to be used by most of institutes
- Alternative2: Open the "Depositing service" interface to the institutes with detailed "howTo" - in this case institutes (if really specific requirements) can use this service to create own submission masks for specific purposes (depositing service also encapsulates the specific validation as defined in the institutes collections settings)
Interviews with scientists[edit]
Here you can find the results of the interviews with the scientists on Easy Submission form the functional side.
Interview, 03. December 2007 in Garching[edit]
Relevant publications for the questionaired scientist are:
- refereed publications and not refereed publications
- in this case Articles and Proceedings
- Posters
- Talks
- Lectures
- Book Articles (in PubMan called Book Item)
- Edited Books and Books
The following metadata fields would be filled by the scientist:
- Title
- Author(s), inc. Affiliations
- Source (document type, title, volume, pages, year, identifier)
- publication status
- genre of the described publication
- Abstract
- Keywords
- full text
Further outcome on the submission mask:
- The order of the fields should be like mentioned above. Title, Authors, Source, publication status, genre, abstract, keywords, full text
- if the genre of the source is filled, the list of possible genres for the described publication should be limited accordingly
- if an identifier is being filled, fetch MD from external system should run e.g. on ADS (genre of the actual publication should also be filled by fetch MD)
- the additional source information should be according to the source genre or to the genre of the described publication
- it should be possible to mark the corresponding author and to add his/her E-Mail Address
currently no support for corresponding author.display of information? data privacy?
- it should be possible to state, that the publication has more than one creator, so that the library or who ever is checking that afterwards, knows that this list has to be added
- it should be possible, that one only enters the journal abbrev. and that the system suggests an journal title
- in general the source title should be an auto suggest field
- mandatory fields should be marked in the submission mask
- after the log in the scientist should get an in formation on open tasks
- it should be possible to save, edit or directly submit an entry. The procedure should be the following. I enter data, then i click on save, then i get an overview on what I have enterd and then i have the possibility to edit or to submit. If I do nothing, the item stays in my workspace and I can work on it later.
- it should be possible to upload also supplementary material, therefor an easy way has to be found to upload a lot of files in one go
