Introduction[edit]
The ViRR Application Profile (Holy Roman Empire Law Books Application Profile) is used to describe the metadata (bibliographic, descriptive, structural) of scanned books in the ViRR solution.
This profile is based on MODS schema.
Aim and Scope[edit]
The eSciDoc ViRR Application Profile documents the elements used by the eSciDoc solution ViRR to describe its content entities.
This eSciDoc ViRR Application Profile will be used for the following types of resources within ViRR:
- Publication
- Multivolume (collection of several related books i.e. volumes )
- Volume (a book that is part of the multivolume collection)
- Monograph (a book that is standalone and is not part of a multivolume)
- The ViRR AP describes how to model the bibliographic metadata of these elements.
- Structural element
- The content structure of each publication (Volume, Monograph) is logically described by a Table of contents (ToC). The TOC itself is composed of structural elements such as: Chapter, Page etc.
- The ViRR AP describes how to model the descriptive and bibliographic metadata of these structural elements.
